Seoul St. Mary\u2019s Hospital performed Korea\u2019s first hematopoietic stem cell transplant in 1983. In December 2024 it reached 10,000 stem cell transplants<\/span> \u2014 a first in Korea \u2014 and it now performs more than 600 a year, making its Catholic Hematology Hospital the largest hematology centre in Asia<\/span>.<\/p>

Reported post-transplant survival at the centre runs 10\u201330% above comparable US figures. In transplant medicine that gap is largely a function of volume and continuity: a team doing 600 procedures a year manages complications differently from one doing 60.<\/p>
