MEDIWIN is registered with the Korean government as a medical travel facilitator, and in 2024 we signed a formal patient-referral agreement with Samsung Medical Center. Under that agreement we submit international cases directly to the hospital for medical review. MEDIWIN’s facilitator registration number is A-2022-01-01-4465, issued by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and valid to 29 June 2028 — you can ask any Korean agency for its number and check it.
Ask any agency you are considering which hospitals it is contracted with. A tertiary university hospital in Korea does not sign a referral agreement with an unregistered broker, so the answer tells you most of what you need to know.
Cases we have coordinated at Samsung Medical Center include colorectal cancer surgery and jaw reconstruction. Both are procedures where the specific surgical team matters, and neither is something an overseas patient can arrange by sending an email to a general enquiry address.
Онкология. Newsweek’s World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2026 ranked Samsung Medical Center 3rd worldwide in oncology out of 300 institutions assessed — the highest placement of any Korean hospital in that specialty.
Gastrointestinal cancer. Korea has the highest volume of stomach and colorectal cancer surgery in the world, and its five-year survival figures for both are generally higher than those reported in the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan. That is a function of screening programmes and case volume, and it is the reason gastrointestinal cancer is one of the strongest arguments for treatment in Korea.
Reconstructive surgery. Jaw and facial reconstruction after tumour resection or trauma requires oncology, maxillofacial surgery and plastic surgery to work as one team. Very few hospitals anywhere can convene that combination for an international patient inside a single admission.
None of this predicts an individual outcome. Whether Samsung Medical Center can accept a particular case is decided by the hospital’s physicians after they review the records.
1. Сообщите нам диагноз. A short written summary is enough to begin — what the diagnosis is, when it was made, what treatment has been given so far, and where you are now. Please do not send medical records by ordinary email or through a chat window; neither is a secure channel.
2. We send a private secure link. A coordinator replies within one business day with a link for uploading records, imaging and pathology.
3. Translation and submission. We translate the documents into Korean and submit them to Samsung Medical Center under our referral agreement. MEDIWIN never produces or edits medical opinion — every clinical judgement comes from the hospital’s own physicians.
4. The hospital answers. Samsung reviews the case and states whether it can accept the patient, what it proposes, and the minimum length of stay required.
5. Estimate, visa, travel. The hospital issues a written cost estimate. We handle medical visa documentation, flights, accommodation and airport transfer.
6. Treatment and follow-up. Interpretation throughout the admission, and remote follow-up with the hospital after you return home.
Yes. Samsung Medical Center has an international health services division and treats patients from abroad. The difficulty is rarely permission — it is getting records translated, submitted in the format the hospital needs, and answered while you are still in another country. That is what MEDIWIN does under its referral agreement.
It was established by the Samsung Foundation and carries the same name, but it is a non-profit university hospital affiliated with Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine. It is a teaching and research hospital, not a corporate clinic.
It can be worth asking, and a second opinion is the low-commitment way to find out — you do not travel to get one. A different centre may stage the disease differently or have a surgical or systemic option that was not available where you were treated. It may also confirm the original assessment. MEDIWIN cannot tell you which; only the reviewing physician can, and we will pass on whatever they say without softening it.
The hospital issues a written estimate after the medical review, and that estimate is the only reliable figure. Cost depends on stage, the procedure chosen, length of admission and whether complications arise. Patients pay the hospital directly — MEDIWIN adds nothing to the medical bill.
